This project involved the installation and finishing of approximately 100m² of Blackbutt flooring within a newly built owner-builder home on Merewether Street.
The flooring was installed throughout the upper level living areas and bedrooms using a combination of direct-stick adhesive and secret nailing over a prepared Yellow Tongue subfloor. With large quantities of flooring on site and limited workspace available, careful planning and board selection were critical throughout the installation.
Once the floor had settled, we returned to complete the sanding and finishing process. Large open spaces and long hallways meant consistency was key, so we relied heavily on our Power Drive system to refine the floor and create a flat, even surface ready for coating.
The floor was finished using Berger-Seidle's premium coating system, including CeramicStar UltraMatt. The result was a durable, low-sheen finish that complemented the home's coastal feel while allowing the natural character of the Blackbutt to remain the focus.
